On arrival at Ivato International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Antananarivo. This first day is designed for a smooth and gentle beginning after the international flight, with time to settle in and enjoy your first evening in Madagascar.

At the hotel, your guide can provide a clear briefing about the southern route, driving days, national park visits, coastal sections, boat transfer to Anakao, and the romantic rhythm of the journey. Depending on arrival time, a short orientation around the capital or a quiet evening at the hotel can be arranged.

This is also a good moment to prepare walking shoes, light clothing, sun protection, insect repellent, camera equipment, swimwear, and a small day bag before the journey begins.

Accommodation: Maison Gallieni, Relais des Plateaux, San Cristobal Boutique Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, depart from Antananarivo by private vehicle and drive south along the famous RN7. The road leaves the capital and enters the central highlands, where rice fields, red-earth villages, traditional brick houses, market towns, and rural scenery create a beautiful introduction to Madagascar.

A stop can be made in Ambatolampy, known for traditional aluminum pot workshops. This visit gives a first look at local craftsmanship and highland daily life.

Continue to Antsirabe, a pleasant highland town known for its cool climate, pousse-pousse rickshaws, colonial-style atmosphere, gemstone workshops, embroidery, horn craft, and relaxed rhythm. On arrival, enjoy a short city discovery or rest at the hotel.

Accommodation: Couleur Café, Royal Palace, Plumeria Hotel Antsirabe, or similar

After breakfast, continue south through the highlands. The road passes rice terraces, villages, valleys, mountain scenery, and rural landscapes that make this part of the RN7 especially beautiful.

Stop in Ambositra, Madagascar’s famous woodcarving and marquetry capital. Depending on timing, visit workshops where artisans create carved boxes, furniture, decorative panels, and traditional designs.

Continue toward Ranomafana. The landscape becomes greener and more mountainous as you approach the rainforest region. On arrival, check in at the lodge and enjoy the humid forest atmosphere. If timing allows, an evening walk near the park area can be arranged to search for frogs, chameleons, geckos, insects, and nocturnal wildlife.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, or similar

Today is dedicated to Ranomafana National Park, one of Madagascar’s most important rainforest reserves. The park is known for lush vegetation, forested hills, waterfalls, orchids, frogs, birds, chameleons, and several lemur species.

With a local guide, explore forest trails according to the best conditions of the day. Possible sightings include Golden Bamboo Lemur, eastern bamboo lemur, red-bellied lemur, Milne-Edwards’ sifaka, and other rainforest wildlife depending on movement and season.

The visit is not only about large animals. Mosses, ferns, orchids, insects, waterfalls, and forest textures create an immersive and romantic rainforest atmosphere. After the visit, return to the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, leave Ranomafana and return toward the RN7. The road passes forested hills, rice fields, local villages, and the Fianarantsoa region before continuing farther south.

Arrive in Ambalavao, a beautiful town surrounded by mountain scenery and granite landscapes. The area is known for Antemoro paper workshops, silk weaving, vineyards, Betsileo culture, and a soft highland atmosphere.

Depending on arrival time, visit a paper workshop or enjoy a short town discovery. The late afternoon light on the surrounding mountains gives this stop a peaceful and romantic character.

Accommodation: Betsileo Country Lodge, Tsienimparihy Lodge, Aux Bougainvillées, or similar

After breakfast, visit Anja Community Reserve, one of the best places in Madagascar to observe ring-tailed lemurs in a natural and scenic setting.

The reserve protects dry forest pockets among granite boulders, caves, and viewpoints. Ring-tailed lemurs are often seen moving through trees, resting on rocks, or traveling in groups. The setting is very photogenic and ideal for couples who want wildlife and scenery together.

After the visit, continue south toward Ranohira, gateway to Isalo National Park. The scenery changes gradually into open plains, dry landscapes, and sandstone formations. If timing allows, enjoy sunset near the Window of Isalo or another viewpoint before settling into the lodge.

Accommodation: Isalo Rock Lodge, Jardin du Roy, Relais de la Reine, Satrana Lodge, or similar

Today is dedicated to Isalo National Park, one of Madagascar’s most beautiful landscape parks. The scenery is dramatic and romantic, with sandstone massifs, canyons, dry forest, natural pools, golden light, and wide southern skies.

With a local guide, explore the park according to your preferred pace. A classic visit can include Namaza Canyon, natural pools, dry forest trails, sandstone viewpoints, and swimming areas where permitted.

Possible wildlife includes ring-tailed lemurs, Verreaux’s sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, birds, reptiles, and butterflies. After the visit, return to the lodge and enjoy a calm evening in the dramatic Isalo landscape.

Accommodation: Isalo Rock Lodge, Jardin du Roy, Relais de la Reine, Satrana Lodge, or similar

After breakfast, leave Ranohira and drive southwest toward Tulear. The road passes through dry southern landscapes, sapphire mining areas near Ilakaka, villages, thorny vegetation, and open plains.

Depending on timing, a stop can be made at Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, a dry forest reserve known for birds, lemurs, reptiles, and transition-zone vegetation.

Continue to Tulear, the main city of Madagascar’s southwest coast. On arrival, check in at the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening before the coastal section of the honeymoon begins.

Accommodation: Bakuba Lodge, Moringa Hotel, Hyppocampo Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, leave Tulear and travel north along the coast toward Ifaty. Ifaty is included as a visit stop only, not as a beach stay. The visit can focus on coastal village atmosphere, Vezo fishing culture, pirogues, lagoon views, and local scenery.

If timing allows, a visit to the spiny forest area can be arranged to discover the unique dry vegetation of the southwest, including baobabs, thorny plants, birds, and reptiles depending on local conditions.

After the Ifaty visit, continue farther north toward Ambatomilo. The road follows coastal landscapes, sandy tracks, fishing villages, lagoons, and dry vegetation. On arrival, check in at the lodge and enjoy the peaceful lagoon atmosphere.

Accommodation: Shangri-La Lodge, Salary Bay Lodge, best available lodge around Ambatomilo, or similar

Today is dedicated to Ambatomilo, one of the quiet and romantic beach areas of Madagascar’s southwest coast. After the highlands, rainforest, Anja Reserve, and Isalo, this day creates a softer and slower rhythm.

Enjoy beach relaxation, lagoon views, swimming depending on conditions, seafood, walks along the coast, or simple quiet time at the lodge. The atmosphere is peaceful and remote, ideal for honeymooners who appreciate privacy and natural beauty.

Optional local activities may include snorkeling, a boat excursion, fishing village visit, or lagoon discovery depending on sea and wind conditions.

After breakfast, leave Ambatomilo and return south along the coast toward Tulear. The route follows sandy tracks, coastal villages, lagoon landscapes, and dry southern scenery.

On arrival in Tulear, transfer to the boat departure point for the crossing to Anakao, a beautiful Vezo fishing village south of Tulear. The boat ride offers sea views, coastal landscapes, and the feeling of entering a new beach atmosphere.

On arrival in Anakao, transfer to your beach lodge and settle into the coastal rhythm. The rest of the day is free to relax by the sea.

Accommodation: Anakao Ocean Lodge, Safari Vezo, Prince Anakao, Longo Vezo, or similar

Today is dedicated to relaxation and romance in Anakao. This beach village has a different atmosphere from Ambatomilo, with Vezo culture, pirogues, open sea views, seafood, and a quiet coastal rhythm.

Couples can relax on the beach, swim depending on sea conditions, walk along the coast, enjoy seafood, or simply rest at the lodge. The day can stay very soft or include light optional activities according to your interests.

Depending on local conditions, optional activities may include snorkeling, lagoon discovery, fishing village visit, kayaking, or a romantic beach lunch.

Accommodation: Anakao Ocean Lodge, Safari Vezo, Prince Anakao, Longo Vezo, or similar

After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Nosy Ve, a small island near Anakao, depending on sea conditions and local arrangements. Nosy Ve is known for clear water, seabirds, beach scenery, and relaxed island atmosphere.

The excursion may include a boat ride, beach time, snorkeling, birdwatching, and peaceful island discovery. It is a beautiful soft adventure for couples who want a romantic island experience without heavy travel.

Return to Anakao in the afternoon and enjoy your final beach evening on the southwest coast.

Accommodation: Anakao Ocean Lodge, Safari Vezo, Prince Anakao, Longo Vezo, or similar

After breakfast, take the boat transfer back from Anakao to Tulear. On arrival, transfer to Tulear Airport for the domestic flight to Antananarivo according to the flight schedule.

On arrival in Antananarivo, meet your guide or local representative and transfer to the hotel. Depending on timing, enjoy a relaxed final evening, a craft market visit, or a farewell dinner.

If the domestic flight schedule does not connect well, the itinerary can be adjusted with an extra overnight in Tulear or Antananarivo while keeping the spirit of the program.
