Welcome to Madagascar. On arrival at Ivato International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your national accompanying guide and transferred to your hotel in Antananarivo, locally known as Tana.

The day is kept relaxed after the international flight. Depending on arrival time, a short orientation, craft market visit or first Malagasy dinner can be arranged before the eastern journey begins.

Accommodation: Relais des Plateaux, Palissandre Hotel, San Cristobal Boutique Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, depart east along the RN2 toward Andasibe. The road passes highland villages, rice fields, eucalyptus forests and greener eastern landscapes.

Stop at Peyrieras Reserve, a good first introduction to Madagascar's small wildlife, including chameleons, geckos, frogs, reptiles and butterflies. Continue to Andasibe and settle into the cool rainforest atmosphere.

Accommodation: Vakona Forest Lodge, Mantadia Lodge, Feon'ny Ala Hotel, or similar

Start early for a guided visit of the Andasibe rainforest. The morning is the best time to hear and possibly see the Indri Indri, the largest living lemur in Madagascar.

With a local guide, explore forest trails for lemurs, birds, orchids, frogs, chameleons and rainforest plants. The visit can focus on Analamazaotra Reserve, with another nearby reserve possible depending on timing and interest.

Accommodation: Vakona Forest Lodge, Mantadia Lodge, Feon'ny Ala Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, leave Andasibe and continue east toward Manambato. The road becomes more adventurous near the lakes and waterways of the Pangalanes region.

At Manambato, board a boat to Akanin'ny Nofy, the "Nest of Dreams." The transfer crosses calm water, tropical vegetation, fishing villages and lake scenery. On arrival, check in and enjoy the peaceful lakeside setting.

Accommodation: Palmarium Hotel, Bush House, or similar

Today is dedicated to Palmarium Reserve, one of the easiest and most enjoyable places in eastern Madagascar for lemur observation.

The guided visit offers close wildlife viewing, palms, orchids, pitcher plants and a tropical lakeside atmosphere. In the evening, an optional evening excursion to search for the aye-aye can be arranged locally.

Accommodation: Palmarium Hotel, Bush House, or similar

After breakfast, continue by boat along the Pangalanes Canal toward Tamatave / Toamasina, Madagascar's main eastern port city.

This scenic travel day follows lakes, rivers, villages, pirogues, fishermen and tropical vegetation. On arrival in Tamatave, transfer to the hotel and enjoy a short city orientation or seafront atmosphere depending on timing.

Accommodation: Calypso Hotel, Victoria Beach Hotel, or best available city hotel in Tamatave

After breakfast, depart south toward Mahanoro by road, boat or a combination of local logistics depending on conditions.

The route follows the eastern coastal region, where daily life is shaped by rivers, canal sections, agriculture, fishing and tropical vegetation. Mahanoro is a quiet coastal stop on the way to the southern Pangalanes route.

Accommodation: Best available local hotel or guesthouse in Mahanoro

Today the journey continues deeper into the east-coast and canal region. Travel toward Nosy Varika through rivers, villages, coastal vegetation and local communities.

This is one of the more authentic sections of the tour, with simple logistics and a strong local travel atmosphere. On arrival, check in and rest after the travel day.

Accommodation: Best available local hotel or guesthouse in Nosy Varika

After breakfast, continue south toward Mananjary, an important town along the Pangalanes route.

The day may include canal scenery, local boats, river crossings, villages, rice fields, banana plants and traditional houses. On arrival, check in and enjoy a short town or waterfront walk if time allows.

Accommodation: Best available hotel in Mananjary or similar

After breakfast, leave the coast and travel inland toward Ranomafana. The road gradually climbs from the tropical coast to greener hills and rainforest landscapes.

On arrival in Ranomafana, check in at the hotel and enjoy the cooler rainforest atmosphere before the next day's national park visit.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, Centrest Sejour, or similar

Start early for a guided visit of Ranomafana National Park, one of Madagascar's most important rainforest reserves.

With a local guide, search for Golden Bamboo Lemur, red-bellied lemur, Milne-Edwards' sifaka, birds, chameleons, frogs, orchids and rainforest plants. The visit can be adapted to guest fitness and trail conditions.

Accommodation: Setam Lodge, Thermal Hotel, Centrest Sejour, or similar

After breakfast, leave Ranomafana and return toward the central highlands. The scenery changes from rainforest hills to rice terraces, red-earth villages and cooler highland landscapes.

Stop in Ambositra, Madagascar's woodcarving center, for a craft visit before continuing to Antsirabe, a former thermal town known for pousse-pousse, gemstones, embroidery and colonial atmosphere.

Accommodation: Couleur Café, Plumeria Hotel Antsirabe, or similar

After breakfast, enjoy a short Antsirabe visit depending on timing, with possible stops for craft workshops, gemstones or local markets.

Continue north through the highlands toward Antananarivo. On arrival, check in at the hotel and enjoy free time for packing, souvenir shopping or a farewell dinner.

Accommodation: Relais des Plateaux, Palissandre Hotel, San Cristobal Boutique Hotel, or similar

After breakfast, transfer to Ivato International Airport for your international departure.

Depending on your flight schedule, a final craft market stop, short city visit or day-use arrangement can be organized. The tour ends after a complete eastern Madagascar journey through rainforest, lakes, Pangalanes Canal, coastal towns, Ranomafana and the highlands.
